Description
Each spring swallows flock to my country home to build their nests, lay eggs, and prey on insects near the stream. Some are very friendly and allow close human interaction. This lovely lady built her nest by my front porch, allowing me to observe her closely while painting her portrait.

I adore our barn swallows each year when they come, and it's amazing how they keep the population of biting flies and mosquitos under control! This is a fabulous painting, Malanda - you really captured the iridescence on the feathers beautifully! L/F, sharing on FB, Twitter, G+ and Pinterest.
