Ornamental Cabbage

Description
Ornamental Cabbage was a must paint for me. I love the contrast of the texture and soft flowing edges of the leaves. The natural colours of the plant are ones that I gravitate to and use frequently in other works. The juxtaposition of the characteristics of warm versus cool, light and dark, hard lines and soft edges creates interest in an otherwise simple subject.

I had the priviledge of going to a farm in south Texas and taking pictures of these! They are so much like giant blue roses! Very nice work! FAV!
Malanda Warner replied:
Thank you very much Linda, I haven’t grown any for a few years but they certainly are amazing and formed perfectly like a rose!

This marvelous cabbage detail looks amazingly like a photo, Malanda! Fabulous watercolor, my friend! L/F
Malanda Warner replied:
Thank you so very much, Hazel! I recall getting bored when painting it, working within the same colour family for so long, but was happy with the way it turned out.

You are so very kind and thank you, Janet, for your delightful comments and support as well! I only wish I could find more painting time, usually winter is the best when the demands of outdoor work decrease.
